Radish

 

Sow outdoors from March to June extending the season with February sowings under cloches. Sow thinly 2.5cm (1") apart in 15cm (6") rows. Flea Beetle are likely to be the only serious pest.

Fine scarlet globe. Quick growing, remains crisp over a long period.

SPARKLER
A mild flavoured, crisp radish with attractive bright red roots with a white tip.

FRENCH BREAKFAST 2
A popular intermediate variety, red with a white tip.

LONG WHITE ICICLE
Crisp tender roots of sweet nutty flavour. Ready about three weeks after sowing.

MÜNCHEN BIER
This variety is grown for its 7 - 8cm (3 - 4") long stringless pods. They are succulent with a sweet tangy taste. Can be eaten raw or lightly cooked. The white roots can also be used from autumn sowings.

RED MEAT
Large round roots, red topped, white skin and beautiful deep rose red flesh.

PURPLE PLUM
A slightly elongated round variety 2.5-3cm (1-11/2") producing bright purple roots of well flavoured crisp, white fleshed radishes. Hardy and robust matures in 25-30 days.

TARZAN
Excellent variety for autumn and for early spring under cover planting, that has a quick formation of roots, which are very uniform. Round radishes with a deep and rich red colour. Has good keeping abilities and is very high yielding. Sowing December - March or September - October.
